Happy Belly: Frisée Salad

favorite!

I love food, particularly French food.

And I love eggs- remember?

home made croutons
So it makes sense that one of my favorite meals in the world combines those two things: simple and exquisite french food and poached eggs.

Papa Cravens makes a salad of frisée, bacon, croutons, AND egg.
Here's how it works: the dressing is particularly acidic and vinegary so the creaminess of the egg warms up the salad and turns it into a glowing, luscious salad.

The salt of the bacon and the crunch of the croutons make it satisfying on all fronts. I especially love it because Papa makes homemade croutons. The whole house smells warm and salty. Sometimes, he'll get the thick lardon that stays a little chewy and soft. I love the soft parts of the bacon. It's like finding the squishy fries that have soaked up the Ikea gravy.

When all of these elements come together, it turns into a cornucopia of every flavor and texture I love: crunchy, soft, warm, cool, crisp, salty, vinegary, and creamy.

Basically, it's beautiful and delicious.

Sometimes I lick the plate.

Fine; I always lick the plate.

Wish List: CHANEL

All I need is a million dollars.
Because then I could slather myself in head-to-toe Chanel products EVERY DAY.

so... pretty....

Until then, I'll just have to pine away from the glow of my computer screen, dreaming of that magical day when I find thousands of bills in the family banana stand.

theres always money in the banana stand.

Wish List: Airplane Essentials

You know how celebrities always have that magical product they love that makes all those long flights better? Well here's my wish list for if I was much fancier when I fly...

origins no puffery; rosebud salve; l'occitane cuticle cream; masque*ology brightening mask; mural oil-control mattifier; hello kitty bag

jcrew cashmere hoodie; jcrew minnie twill pants; hermes scarf; kate spade bon shopper; ipad

I would also like it if Stephen Fry would follow me around in his Jeeves costume and bring me martinis. And be my best friend.

very good, miss...

Just the best friend part would work too.

My Favorite Things: Nighties

There are few things I love buying more than slips and lacy bits. I have a vast collection.
victorias secret neglige, etam slip, vintage slip and garter

I run warm, especially at night, so having slips and little sets as pajamas is the BEST. I'm a huge sucker for bows and lace- can ya tell? These are my favorite nighties:

My Vintage Slip: This was snatched from a costume shop donation pile. It's the brightest orange anyone will ever see and I love every second of it. It makes me feel like Joan Holloway. Always a win.

My Victorias Secret Creamy Set: I grabbed this in the begin in got the summer this year in a fit of displeasure with the humidity. I hate most weather in general, but I have an especially low tolerance for heat. It just makes me cranky. Anywho, all of my jambes felt so heavy and confining, so I found this floaty silky matching camp and undies set. It was love at first sight.

My Garter Belt: This is a random Victorias Secret find. I wasn't looking for a belt at the time, but I came across this little number in the sale pile of all places. Its a longer belt, feels endlessly vintage, and fits me to a T. I don't wear it very often, but its so comfortable, I think I might have to change that habit.

My Black Etam Slip: This is my grow up slip- it's the first piece of French lingerie I bought myself in Paris. I think my favorite activity is lingerie shopping in Paris. I found this in the corner of a little shop and just threw it in for good measure; a black slip aways seems practical. It turns out, like many of my impulse buys, to be one of the most comfortable, beautiful pieces I own. It has tiny lace and pleat detailing and a long simple bow in the front. It feels like luxury and sweet things and a hot cup of tea.
